Africa Here I Come!

Friends and Family,

I am headed to Ethiopia in 11 days for a short term mission trip and so excited and nervous I don't know what to do with myself.  I know most of you have given up on our blog but my trip is inspiring to blog again in order to keep you all updated on my trip as my hope is to blog during while I am in Ethiopia.

I first felt the Lord put Africa on my heart 10 years ago as a college student and have been looking forward to the day God would fulfill that call. About 8 months ago doors started to open and it seemed that now was the time for me to pursue this. I am overjoyed at the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Ethiopia. I will be working with a team of 8 other people who will travel to Addis Ababa and some surrounding villages with the Adoption Ministry of Youth With a Mission (YWAM). We will be there from August 4-18th.

Ethiopia is located in the the Horn of Africa. It is among the most impoverished and least developed countries in the world, ranked174th out of 187 on the UN Human Development Index. There are close to 5 million orphaned children in this country alone. Adoption Ministry of YWAM Ethiopia is a Christian missionary organization that focuses on meeting the needs of widows and orphans in Ethiopia. While we are there, we will be hosting many Vacation Bible Schools for children in the surrounding villages including Korah, a village located at the city dump. We will also be providing food and clothes for needy families, repairing homes of widows, and partnering with church leaders in the area.

Please pray for our team while we are preparing for our trip and when we are there and also pray for Taylor and kids as he is taking two weeks off of work to stay with the kids.  Thank you for all your support and I am excited for you to join me this adventure.

Angela
